Welcome to South Putnam Animal Hospital! We understand that many cats are stressed by veterinary visits, so we do everything we can to provide a calm and gentle experience for your furry friend.

This is one of our exam rooms, where we perform regular wellness exams. At South Putnam Animal Hospital, we recommend at least one yearly wellness exam so that our doctors and technicians can provide and maintain the best treatment possible for your pet.

Well hello neighbor! This curious little pup is waiting for his wellness exam, during which one of our veterinarians will perform a nose to tail examination of their body and bodily systems.

Here Dr. Heiber is analyzing an ultrasound to evaluate a pet's internal organs. Our facilities are fully equipped with the technology and equipment to help out doctors perform accurate and efficient diagnostics for a wide range of conditions.

The staff at South Putnam Animal Hospital has a passion for veterinary care that extends beyond just the medicine. It is our goal to help every one of our patients live happy, healthy lives.

This pup is giving us some side eye while Dr. Fixman examines her eyes! It’s important to check for discoloration, discharge, proper light response, and more.

One of our lovely vet assistants works to hold and pet one of our patients while Dr. Fixman listens to their heart and lungs to make sure their systems are in top shape.

Dr. Heiber is giving this patient an oral examination, inspecting the teeth and gums for any and all signs of gingivitis, plaque, and tartar. Dental health is a very key component to your pet’s health!

Dr. Kathi Heiber is originally from Cleveland, and earned her degree in veterinary medicine from Ohio State University in 1979. She then went on to found South Putnam Animal Hospital in 1984 to fulfill her dream of providing high standard care to all sorts of animals. In her free time, Dr. Heiber likes to explore new cuisines and spend time with her husband, Jack Russell mix, and two adopted cats.

Dr. Heiber and Dr. Fixman are wearing protective sunglasses because they’re performing laser therapy! This form of treatment is completely painless and promotes cell regeneration by using light to energize certain areas of the body into healing itself.

Dr. Heiber is hard at work and focused on this ultrasound to make sure she makes a proper diagnosis.

Dr. Julie Fixman earned her degree from Cornell University in 1998, and is now a committed veterinarian and co-owner of South Putnam Animal Hospital. She is a member to a number of professional organizations, including a role as the past president of the Hudson Valley Veterinary Medical Society. At home, Dr. Fixman has a son, daughter, Golden Retriever, cat, and an ever changing number of chickens.
